Civic Sweep
Each spring and fall, PSCC organizes a day on which volunteers swarm a swath of the neighborhood, picking up litter, painting over graffiti, mulching tree pits, and scraping several months' worth of illegal fliers off of lampposts.
PSCC is greatly aided in this effort by contributions from local merchants and volunteers from the Park Slope Food Coop, the Brooklyn District Attorneys community service program, and St. Francis Xavier High School's Impact youth group.
Clean Walk to School Week
A week or two after the bi-annual Civic Sweep, students at Park Slope schools pick up litter on their way to school, then deposit it in specially marked trash cans. Many schools combine the anti-litter activity with classroom lessons on the negative impact litter can have on a neighborhood.
